Shanghai City Central Youth Hostel Reviews
Very big hostel Aug 12, 2007
What kind of hostels are you looking for in Shanghai? Location or price or...?
This is one of UTELS and the locations is okay.. Though it's a bit far from the center but there's metro and it's really easy to move around. It's about 2, 3 minutes from Caoyang Road station. This area is a bit busy at night in the summer. Some kind of market is open until really late. Also they have tons of cheap massage places.
This hostel is really big. I think it has 4 floors and each floor has about 20 rooms, both dormitory and private. Even private is only 100rmb (per person). Dormitory is 60rmb (my room was 4 beds, female only). They have a huge common room with a restaurant. They have games and movies night. No breakfast.
Laundry machine is outside and everyone hang their laundry outside. Don't forget to pick them up.
Internet is okay. It's pretty cheap too. Every morning, house keeper will clean your room though they don't change your sheets but they'll clean the garbage and floor and set your bed nicely.
Staff in this hostel is between super nice or average. One guy was really nice though. If you want to go to Beijing or Hong Kong by train, you can ask this girl at the desk and she'll do it for you. You just tell her when and where to go and pay. she'll give you a ticket the next day.
