The Route 66 author recommended stopping at another town, Shamrock, Texas, for
a photo op of the U Drop Inn, which was featured in the movie Cars. The
Inn is now the Shamrock Chamber of Commerce, and as it was Sunday, it

Shamrock, Texas, USA -› -› …
i recently found this really funny documentary called Growin' A Beard about the annual Shamrock, Tx St. Patrick's Day Donegal beard contest that has inspired me to start planning a road trip down to the texas panhandle to display my fine hirsute leprechaun-like self.
about the only rule to the contest is that you have to shave on jan 1 and show up in shamrock, texas on st. patty's day with a Donegal beard.
so this is my beard growth progression.....

I flew from Washington DC to Longbeach CA then my immediate family and I piled into a minivan for a superfast attempt at crossing the US. I took pictures, most of which are from the back seat of the tinted window minivan, but some of which are through the windshield and a few are actually from times we stopped. Enjoy.
