Shakespeare Hotel London
Shakespeare Hotel London Reviews
Nice hotel for London on a budget Sep 09, 2008
This hotel shares 5 Victorian buildings with Hotle Dolphin from the same owner. It's located on a 5 minute walking distance from the Metro station. The front rooms overview a little park.
The reception staff is very nice: we wanted to go to a Greek restaurant and they immediately did some research for us on the internet. And when we had some trouble with a school class in the adjoining rooms, they solved it right away. The breakfast staff however isn't very friendly nor very smart; they forget orders and seem to consider very order of an English breakfast too much trouble. Included in the price is a continental breakfast, you pay extra for English. If you want a good breakfast of any kind, don't have it at the hotel, but walk 5 minutes to Garfunkel's, next to the metro. The metro, you'll hear it the whole night; at first it's annoying, but we got used to it very fast. The room isn't very clean and not very well maintained: the floor is a bit ragged, same for the curtains. The bathroom was later added, so very very small: a complete bathroom on 1 by 1 meter! But the water is hot, the toilet works, so we just had a laugh about it. Some rooms don't have their own bathroom, they share one down the hall. The bed was queensize, which is just a tad to small for 2 adults. Very cosy though..... It was also a bit on the short side. Matras was okay, as were the pillows. In short: ideal for London on a budget! And how much time do you actually spend in your room when in London? |
