Seven Springs Mountain Resort Reviews
A Winter Wonderland Feb 29, 2008
A retreat for the winter sports lover! Lots to do day or night, inside or outside. Check it out!
Rated the number one resort in the mid-Atlantic region by Ski Magazine, the slopes of Seven Springs will provide hours of winter fun! There are 31 varied difficulty slopes and trails with the highest elevation being 3,000 feet and a 750 vertical drop. The longest run is 1 1/4 miles. From double green beginner trails to double black diamond slopes, mogul runs and five terrain parks, there's something for everyone! The areas are serviced by 15 lifts, including two high speed six passenger chairlifts.
Don't know how to ski or board? Seven Springs offers professionally trained instructors and group or private lessons. Our experience was with the Tiny Tots Ski School. Children are given time for getting to know the instructors, small group lessons, lunch, and playroom activities. Each student receives a picture and report card.
The area has a great Snow Tubing Park! The Magic Carpet or handlebar tow will take you and your tube to the top of the hill. Jump in your tube, grab on to the handles, and plunge down the hill! Done with that run? Start all over! Open 2 hours intervals Mon. - Fri. $15 (Adult) or Sat. Sun. and Holidays $18 (Adult).
Other outdoor acitivites include snowcat rides, horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowshoe tours or snowmobile rides! Of course, activities subject to weather conditions.
For indoor fun, Seven Springs has a bowling center, mini-golf, roller skating or arcade fun! There's a spa for relaxing those tired muscles! Enjoy apres ski fun in one of Seven Springs three lounges with nightly entertainment. And there's always some special event taking place!
Hungry? Seven Springs has fine dining -Helen's Restaurant, featuring intercontinental cuisine or the Slopeside Dining Room offering a full menu or one of their big buffets. If casual dining is to your liking, The Coffee Shop, Snow Base Cafe or Lake Tahoe Lodge is for you. There are also some fast food choices also - pizza, deli sandwiches, etc. There is even a Starbucks for those of you who can't go without your "cup o'joe." We ate the Saturday Grand Buffet - $26.95 adult - in the Slopeside Dining Room. Grand it is! Everything from Prime Rib to delicious salads and desserts is included. Most had called it a day on the slopes and were dressed for dinner. There were some, like us, who wanted to catch a couple hours of night skiing, and that style of dress was OK early in the evening.
If shopping is your thing, there are plenty of shops to please you! Of course, Seven Springs offers a fully stocked ski shop! Buy the latest equipment, accessories, and ski wear, and have the technicians tune up your equipment. Also, you can find shops handling their trademark logo t-shirts, sweatshirts, fleece, glasses, etc. and others carrying toys, hair products, gifts, and jewelry.
Where to stay at Seven Springs? The choices are unlimited! The hotel is in the heart of the main lodge area. Newly refurbished rooms are available for you and your family. The Villages condominiums are located away from the lodge area, but not a problem being connected to the action. Some have ski in/ski out features, most have wonderful views overlooking the scenic mountain area and the slopes, and offer up to four bedrooms to accomodate the large family group. If you are planning a week long visit, rental properties are available at The Villages. This is what we did. The Stoneridge condos, Building B, Unit 43A is a two bedroom, two bath slopeside unit that has a wonderful view of slopes. With two young skiers, we found the unit to be especially handy for them to come inside for a warm up! There is also a shuttle bus that runs every 20 minutes during the busy season transporting people from the condos to the main lodge. Each bus is equipped with an outside ski rack, and drops you at several stops along the route. There are also cabins and chalets available for rent.
With plenty of snow and weather for snowmaking, Seven Springs season has great ski conditions from December into spring skiing season. While we were there, over 15" of natural snow fell! The slopes were expertly groomed for the best ski conditions!
There are so many aspects to the Seven Springs Mountain Resort! Check out the website, and plan your next winter getaway at this great place!
