Seven Falls Colorado Springs Reviews
Worth checking out if have enough time Jul 04, 2009
Named after 7 little waterfalls down on one side of a cliff, Seven Falls is worth checking out for any visitor to Colorado Springs.
There are a few viewing areas to see the falls. One of them is on the Eagle’s Nest Observation platform, which you have to get to by elevator or a tall metal staircase. That is where you can photograph the entire falls. And of course, you get right up close to it.
There is a second tall, metal staircase along the falls. I think each individual falls has a name, but I will just number them in the photos of this review. The staircase is steep, and one of those see-through, so it can be scary for anyone in fear of heights. But I thought, very much worth it.
Once at the top, there are a couple hiking options, which will take you away from the falls. Not sure of the point of one of the shorter one, as it seems to lead to nowhere. Instead, take the longer one, which takes 40 minutes to reach the end, where you reach Inspiration Point. And yes, this viewing spot does live up to its name, as you get nice views of the surrounding mountains and canyon.
WARNING – The hiking trails are often bumpy, and very narrow. So you are always one step away from twisting an ankle. Also, there are no guard rails or barrier on the edge of the cliffs, so there are always that danger as well. The views from Inspiration Point are nice, but not sure if they are great enough that one should hike on these trails. And this is coming from someone who rarely hikes, and does not exercise enough. In other words, do this at your own risk!
Also, admission is really overpriced, so that kind of prevents it from being a must-see, if you plan to see the falls only.
Don’t get me wrong, Seven Falls is a nice place to see. But if your time in Colorado Springs is short, then I would skip this attraction.
