Sevastopol Overview

Sevastopol is sometimes called the pearl of Crimea. Founded in 1783 by Catherine the Great, Russian Empress, this city is now one of the largest in the Ukraine. The architectural appearance of Sebastopol is very diversed , but the main architectural ensembles belong to the post-war period.
Sevastopol is mostly popular among visitors due to it's mild warm climate and beaches. It's unique coastline is characterized by a large number of bays that are among the most comfortable in the world. A territory of the city is surrounded with numerous national parks - a Cossack Bay, Cape Aya, Cape Fiolent and the ancient Sapun mountain.(240 m height)
Sevastopol is also very large trade and military port.It's a home to a Ukrainian naval base and a Russian naval base.
The majority of population in Sevastopol is Russian-speaking.
