The Serengeti ecosystem is located in north-western Tanzania and extends to south-western Kenya. The region contains several national parks and game reserves. Blue Wildebeests, gazelles, zebras and buffalos are some of the commonly found large mammals in the region. Herds of elephants and prides of lions can be seen in their natural habitat.

It is definitely a must for anyone who is travelling to Tanzania, there are many companies that one can go on a safari with. These usually consist of a days game drive and a nights stay in the Serengetti.

Another place to go while seeing the serengeti is the Ngorongoro crater.

For some reason I cannot sleep at nights. Most probably it is due to the excitement! I got up at 5:30 am, took a shower and walked around the hotel. The sun was coming out, so it was beautiful. It is one of the nicest hotels I have been to. I had never seen before a hotel so concerned about preserving nature the way they do it here.   We left around 8:30 am. That was too late for me, but I am travelling with more people. The best time to take pictures is from 8am to 10am and then agai...

The largest population of the wildebeest, an approximate two million live in the Serengeti. When I did the East African safari in 2002, I ch...

In 2006 we spent 4 weeks in Tanzania. We did a 6 day safari and visited Tarangire NP, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara NP. Especially Serengeti en Ngorongoro were amazing! Furthermore we spent some time in Arusha, where we did a Cultural Tourism Walk (see my review), Lushoto in the Usambara mountains, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.
