An excellent choice for us, the Serena Hotel’s primary attribute is its proximity to Rome's Central Termini. Just over two blocks away, our only difficulty was finding it the first time (probably because directions are contingent upon where you exit the Termini). In an attempt to resolve that dilemma for future travelers, please escape the Termini on the West side, or to your left if facing forward towards the station as your train pulled up to the platforms. Outside the Termini, you need to walk upstream (i.e., opposite direction the train entered) a short ways to Via Gioberti, and after two blocks you should be able to turn right onto Amedeo. Serena is on the right side of the strret – though not signposted well, you should see Hotel California on the opposite side just ahead.

The rooms are clean and fairly standard, though our first one was incredibly tight --- when we returned a week later the second room was quite a bit larger --- but that is par for the course in downtown Rome. My favorite part was the included breakfast buffet, due to being located in a two-room haven on the second floor. The breakfast rooms have no windows, but are comfortable and cozy – got our days off to a relaxed beginning.

Nothing special about amenities and services, either, but Marco, the guy who was usually sitting at the front desk, was awesome! Fluent in English with tons of local knowledge and a great sense of humor, we never hesitated to bring questions to him. When I asked where I could drop the postcards I had purchased (after asking where I could buy stamps, lol), Marco started giving directions to a mailbox in the Termini, paused, and said “please give them to me and I will see they get posted.” Such service at a great price only allows me to heartily recommend Serena Hotel if you are seeking refuge in Roma.
