Authentic Afghanistani Food to be enjoyed! Oct 16, 2007
One evening during our Fitness Rally in Phila in Oct 2007 we had an evening to ourselves for dinner. So we got together with our best friends from Brooklyn NY -Tony and Vivian and went looking for a good restaurant. I remember eating Afghanistani food in Washington D.C. back in 1995 so I thought, well, let's all try something new as I had only remembered the majority of the cuisine is pumpkin. We weren't sure if the food was to be spicy or not, because Vivian doesn't like spicy foods, but she was willing to try something new. What an amazing restaurant. They have won so many awards in the last 10 years and well deserved they are. I had two appetizers and a soup that was amazing. The flavors are so unique there. Of course my parents being a bit skeptical about certain places by the way they look on the outside and where they are near I had to really convince them, that this was the place to go and to enjoy the cuisine. My mother and her spouse were very impressed as well. We all had either a beef or a chicken dish and the rice, something like no other taste. Pumpkin is absolutely delicious and so very versatile! I highly recommend if you are going to Philadelphia, go to Center City on Chestnut street and go to Kabul!
