Most Memorable Travel Experience
Living in the desert an hour outside of Alexandria, Egypt for 2.5 months. One evening a group of friends and I took a ride on a small sailboat down the Nile River at sunset - an incomparable memory. Then again hang-gliding at Byron Bay, Australia was pretty kicking too. Hmm, but so was fishing for Piranhas in the Amazon River in Peru. Aargh, the question is too hard!
Profile
I'm an American geologist and an explorer at heart. I grew up in San Francisco, California and ever since I finished college, I have been moving every year, and then making major moves about every couple of years. I was living and working in Italy, France, and Egypt for a couple of years. When I left, I could speak fluent Italian, but it's all rusty right now. I haven't found many other Italian speakers in the desert. I was fortunate enough to move to San Diego recently. I have a nice place in Pacific Beach and am having fun exploring the town!
Early next year, I'm going to be taking a year of leave from my work and traveling Round the World. I've been wanting to do it forever (who hasn't) and I think now is the perfect time before I settle down, buy a house and fall into the standard American lifestyle. I want to climb Mount Kilamanjaro, do a safari in Kenya, go see the Hermitage in St Petersburg, Russia (again), explore other parts of the Amazon, and get the h-ll off the beaten path. Of course I also have an alter ego and other passions that also occupy my time and energy. Like I was training to dance competitively in ballroom and latin for a while. Feel free to drop me a line and say hi anytime! I'm more than happy to provide advice, share stories about the places I've been to or lived in, or to show people around my town. Have fun!

My roommate and I backpacked for a couple of weeks through Peru on our own. We saw Macchu Picchu, stayed on an island on Lake Titicaca, and explored the Amazon jungle. Loved it!
