Serafini's Pizzeria and Italian Food Reviews
Best Calzones in Brighton May 07, 2009
Serafini’s Pizzeria is a small family owned Italian restaurant that has been a Brighton fixture for more than two decades. The original owners, Gene and Clair Serafini have now mostly retired, and the day to day operations are handled by their son, Frank and his wife, Tracy. Both are often seen cooking or waiting tables.
The restaurant is small with only 13 tables. But, as it does a large take out business you do not usually have to wait for a table. The weekends can get a little hectic. Service is usually pretty good, but there are exceptions. If you walk in and expect 5 star service and a 5 star experience you won’t be happy. You are often directed to pick out your own table, all of which can be easily seen from the door. The kitchen is also 100 visible from the take out corner, so if you are so inclined you can watch your order being prepared. Serafini’s offers pizza, pasta, and calzones along with a small beer and wine list. They specialize in New York style pizza and the calzones. But their pasta while no longer homemade, is of homemade quality and the best in town. I really like their calzones, and almost always have one (and snitch some of the wife’s entrée) when I go. The menu is pretty basic and I’m not sure how well they do the more exotic dishes on the menu. I’ve always stuck to pizza, pasta, and calzones and have not been disappointed.
