Sequoia National Park Vacation Guide
Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains just 30 miles east of Visalia, CA, this national park along with Kings Canyon National Park are administered by the National Park Service as one unit, the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. It is world renowned for it massive Giant Sequoia trees, including the General Sherman tree, which is the largest tree in the world. Moro Rock, a huge granite outcropping is also a popular destination in the park. Steps and handrails have been cut to allow people to climb safely to the top and look over a wonderfully scenic view of the western half of the park along with the Great Western Divide. The forest is amazing with the massive Giant Sequoia trees and meadows. Crystal Cave, also located in the park contains large impressive marble rooms of stalactites and curtains and a subterranean stream. The parks elevation runs from under two thousand feet at the southern entry point to the highest point in the contiguous United States, Mt. Whitney, elevation 14,505 feet (4,421 m).
