Semuc Champey Vacation Guide
Semuc Champey is a Natural Monument located near Lanquin in Guatemala. The park is a steep valley of lush forest with a large rushing river at the bottom. At the throat of the valley the river dives into an underground cave and at the bottom of the valley the river gushes back out. In the center of the valley lay a series of calm, dripping turquoise pools. The roof of the cave creates the pools of Semuc Champey.
Upon entering the park you can go either strait to the pools, or to Mirador, a high look out point. The hike is steep but the view shows the entire valley with the turquoise pools. You can walk to the top of the valley to see where the river dives into the cave, then swim in the pools themselves.
