Reserves and Sanctuaries in Uganda Jun 16, 2013
Many kilometers in to the extreme western region of Uganda lies one of the richest National Parks with some of the richest flora and fauna in all of Africa. From the thick forests, to the outstanding views, bird species, and springs, Semliki National Park is the perfect sanctuary for wildlife preserve.

Semliki wildlife reserve is Uganda's first protected area; located int he western rift valley region the reserve is home to chimpanzees and many other wildlife like elephants, buffalo, leopards, kobs and other species of primates.

Safaris to this location are not as many as there are to other national parks, but that is what makes this location a great adventure destination. The Semliki Safari Lodge is about the best lodging in the region, and main access is by road or charter flight. By road from Fort Portal it is a 6 hours drive, from Kampala it is much longer, a whole day in fact.
