Hard Rock Hotel Casino - Not cheap! Mar 08, 2009
I still don't know why all the hardrock bars and casinos are being hyped so much. Well we decided to give it a try, because i didn't want to have a hotel in miami, so I chose hollywood and its hardrock hotel, which was a 20min drive away from miami beach.
The hotel itself is pretty big. You've got free parking. Valet parking should be around 15-20$. You can park your car in a parking lot, just next to the hotel. There you have a direct access to the hotel's lobby with its elevators. The check-in desk reminded me of Las Vegas. It was a quite big desk with several staff members in a row. The rooms were BIG, Las Vegas style. The charming thing about the rooms, was that a part of the bathroom was inside the bedroom, seperated by a thin wall with some see-through-holes in it. This should actually look great for couples, or a bunch of friends. But if you're travelling with an oppostive sex working-, travel-partner, this can quite be a mess. Because there's only the toilet and the bath which are in the "bathroom". So if you wanna wash yourself topless in the "inside"-bathroom. The other person might see all of you :) The room had a nice flatscreen tv, with all the usual crap (pay per view...). A nice Tivoli audio station. The beds were pretty big. And you had plenty of rooms to store your baggages and clothes. The design was pretty modern, and had the touch of the usual hard-rock stuff. The 1. floor had 2 hard-rock shops, one HR cafe, 2 breakfast bars, a food court like at shopping mall, cigar shop, ... and some more. The gym was for free, and it was pretty spaceous. It had lots of machines, treadmills, free weights, ... Free towels, free water. The pool was amazing as well. Reminded me once again of the las vegas pools. Beautiful and big. Outside the hotel, there was a court, with bars, shops (quicksilver, ...clothingshops..), hooters, starbucks, restaurants, brookestone... The only bad thing about the hotel was the location. There was nothing in walking distance. The local area didn't look pretty safe. Lots of poor people. No malls, no shops. Actually no the best place for tourists. If you don't wanna stay inside the hotel for 24 hours, and don't have a car. I can't tell you what you can do outside the hotel without taking the bus, or a cab. Another bad thing about the HR hotel. Everything is pretty expensive. The room-breakfast, the optional stuff they offer at the hotel (massage, spa therapy, hairdresser...balbalbal). EXPENSIVE!. The gamblers, looked pretty mid-aged (35-50 years old), and local. The crowds weren't like in vegas. No real partying, and lots of weirdos. I still like the hotel better, than the one we had in miami-beach. It had its good and bad features. Part of the Florida 2009 travel blog |
