Selandia offers some of the lowest prices in Copenhagen, hostels excluded. But it shows.

Amenities are very limited, with most rooms having only a pair of twin beds and a small sink. Toilets and showers are shared amongst guests, with one toilet and one shower per floor. Thankfully it's a small hotel, so I never had to wait in line for the bathroom! I believe some rooms have a private toilet and shower, though those room rates are significantly higher.

The hotel is old and not very modernized. Carpets look worn, and the colors are dated. Rooms have minimal decor--mostly plain white walls, simple bed sheets, flimsy pillows, dim lighting, and an old wall-mounted TV. Bathrooms, too, are dated, with brown tiles and old light fixtures. Surprisingly, wireless Internet (free) is available throughout the hotel.

Free breakfast is included, and the breakfast is quite good. Excellent custard pastries and cheeses!

The location is good--a block from the central train station (Kobenhavn H). But, the neighborhood is bad. The hotel is in the heart of the former red light district, and remnants of that are still alive when the sun sets--drugs, prostitution, and general sketchiness. Do not walk alone at night, especially women.

There are a few dining and shopping options near the hotel, including a 7-11 convenience store for late-night. The hotel is southwest of the train station, and most of the tourist attractions (Tivoli Gardens, Frederiksholm Canal, Christiansborg Palace) are northeast of the train station.

I'd spend the few extra dollars to stay at a better hotel, get a private bathroom, and be in a nicer neighborhood.
