Sekar Khedaton Restaurant - Jogjakarta Jul 01, 2008
Sedar Kedhaton, is a unique restaurant in Jogjakarta, located at the old kingdom of Kota Gede, where the silvercraft industry of Central Java is located. It is about 10-15 minutes drive from Jogjakarta city center. The atmosphere is very elegant with touches of royal Javanese ethnic decors. The restaurant is housed in an 18th century old building of Dutch, Javanese, & Portuguese architecture, formerly owned by a rich Javanese whose silver business has the noble class as his clients. This building had also been the headquarters of Indonesian freedom fighters before their independence.

It was my first time to dine in a restaurant with such ambiance so it was quite an experience. Dutch/European & Javanese cusine is served. There was rijsttafel, Dutch rice with fish, meat, fruit side dishes, but I opted for a simple Javanese meal of gadung w/ chili sauce(cassava chips),grilled Gindara fish w/ potatoes, and gulas squash(soda with tamarind) as my drink.

I have never seen yet a restaurant elsewhere in the world like Sekar Kedhaton.
