We stayed in Lindau on night 6 of a 11 day vacation to the southern regions of Germany, Baden-Wuttemburg and Bavaria. Besides having some difficulties locating the island portion of the town where the hotel is located, our experience was great.

Lindau is set on a island in the Bodensee (Lake Constance), and is connected to the mainland by a causeway. If you visit Lindau, you must stay on the lake front. Cars are discouraged and not allowed in many areas unless you are staying at the hotel. You will find great views and you are supposed to be able to see Austria and Switzerland from this area.

We found great food on the lake front. We had lunch outdoors under a canopy, we ate dinner at a Bavarian Tavern/Restaurant with a spirited owner. In the morning we wandered around the historic little city. There are also street vendors selling art just in front of the hotel. We found a couple of unique, inexpensive items.
