If you would like to experience Amsterdam in the real dutch way you should rent a bike at Orange Bikes. Orange Bikes is a place where you can just rent a bike and explore the city yourself, but you can also choose from several different tours with guides who can tell you everything about the city and the different sights you get to see in the tour. I can really recommend this to everybody because it's a nice and active way to see the city and it's a good way to see places you otherwise wouldn't see when travelling with a tourbus or just seeing the standard tourist things wich are only in the centre of the city. You will get to know the city much better by bike. The prices are relatively low so that is another advantage. If you have enough time while visiting our country I should say this is something you really have to try.

We arrived early in the morning and checked into our hostel and started the tourism right away. We were confused at first because we didn't realize there was an hour time difference. Im feeling a little lazy this time around (and Im sure some of you are getting sick of reading my novels), so this blog will only include the highlights from our time in Amsterdam. Here are some tidbits from the past 3 days (and please excuse the pu…see. Day 1 we rented bikes for 48 hours, and rodea ll around the city, stopping at the Anne Frank museum (the actual apartment where Anne and 7 other Jews hid from the Nazis for 2 years). What can I say....amsterdam lived up to its reputation!!! We only needed one night in this place to see everything....the Red Light District (which does not hold back on AnYtHiNg!) The sex museum (very interesting as well as amusing!) and the variou…see, but at a cost we couldnt afford!! The canals, the bikes (a sight to see!) the history behind Anne Frank and so on. A place worth seeing

Next day I wake up in Amsterdam. I’m part Dutch and for quite some time I’ve been itching to get back to really explore my Motherland. In fact, one of my ideas had been to buy a used bicycle and spend my whole trip riding around with…see Dutch schoolkids heading off to High School riding a bicycle that an American kid wouldn’t be caught dead riding…

My flight to Amsterdam landed at about 630 in the morning. I had figured I would hang around the airport for a bit before trying to find my way to my hotel. However, I quickly discovered that even an airport like Schiphol is dead at…bike I have ever seen in my entire life - it would not add up to half of the ones I see right now in the bike parking lot. I am terribly intrigued by it. But enough about the bikes... I buy a ticket… Amsterdam...Day 1 |
