After coming down from death mountain, I surprisingly had half the day left to get back to Phoenix in time for my flight. I decided to take the scenic route back, stopping by Slide Rock, a "natural waterslide" in Oak Creek Canyon.
Just outside of Flagstaff, some dude was selling elk and buffalo jerkey from out of his car. He had all sorts of flavors and was offering samples to people who would pull over. The jerkey was damn pricey ($11 for a pack), but I just had to get me some de...

Sedona is a lovely place. The really-blows-your-mind kind of nice. There are 2 major roads in Sedona, the 89 which goes West and a bit north, and the 179 which runs north-south but ends where it meets the 89. Most of the action that I saw in terms of restaurants and shopping is located in West Sedona and Uptown Sedona, with the nicer stuff in Uptown Sedona. The 89 also takes you to Oak Creek which is really amazing - rushing water in the middle of this desert. No matter where you stay, you ar...

Ahhh, the glorious red rocks of Sedona--what a vision to behold! Walking around the city you cannot help but feel caught up in the intense energy around you. There are vortexes, or swirling centers of energy, coming out from the surface of the earth all over the place. These vortexes were first discovered by the Native American tribes that used to inhabit the area. I visited several through a tour agency, whose site is: www.sedo...

Up early enough to get some of the continental breakfast at the hotel, but only because they are the lazy kind that hate to put it away on time. It was supposed to stop at 9 a.m. and we were closer to 9:30. Not great, but better than nothing. Spoke to a couple from Canada and exchanged some good information. Nice folks.
First stop this morning was straight south from Flagstaff, Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, and Red Rock Canyon. We did strictly as a drive and take picture thing. Lots of great opp...

We were back on the bus early this morning. Waiting, waiting, waiting... there were some bodies missing, and the rumours had started. One of the young guys from Israel had “gotten friendly” with one of the girls from Holland (who had actually won the trip on a TV dating show and was travelling with her ‘date’) and they were caught in a compromising position in the laundry room. Let the games begin. We finally found the people who were missing and headed out towards Sedona in the Arizo...

It's Sunday- Mike and I are headed thru Phoenix and then on to home. We see a stop off along the way for Montezuma's Castle and decide to make a quick detour to see what it is all about. We get to the park- pay the $5 fee and head in to check out what the Pueblo Indians of the area had created in the face of the rocks. We were a little disapointed to be so far away from the acutal structures and were surprised that there were only a couple buildings/carvi...

Pheonix, Sedona, & Flagstaff, AZ
prior to our grand canyon raft trip some of us had the chance to explore a bit in phoenix, sedona, and flagstaff, AZ. (may17 & 18, 2008) in Phoenix, we visited F.L.W's Taliesin West, then the creative, elegant chimes of Cosanti (recommend this gem for sure). must have been a bit weary when we were driving aimless, because i definitely appreciate Cosanti more now then i did when i was there. 'tis a fine ...

Before moving to Australia I was working in South Africa for a company based in Tucson Arizona. On multiple occasions I had to go to the head office and had opportunities to visit, during the weekends, this spectacular state of the American South West.

On the ride back from Flagstaff we stopped in Sedona to see some of the Red Rock country. I hadn't been here since 2002, and made my return to Cathedral Rock which I climbed the first visit. Due to the weather (quite a bit of rain earlier in the day, light drizzle the whole time we were there) made us decide not to try the path, as it was slick and we didn't have shoes that were good for that kind of climb. The river around the rock was raging though...much more so than the ...

A collection of my travels while living in the UK. The dates are slightly out of order, but the photos should tell the stories!
There are also some snaps that I took visiting the states, and some from trips after I moved back to Arizona.
All future trips will be seperate from this blog and I'll be sure to add some journal entries at some point.

We had to wake up kinda early today because we had the tour of the resort at 9 and we wanted to get our free breakfast before we toured the place. So we packed up and headed down stairs to check out and find the breakfast place. Well we found it and i was kinda surprised at how good it was. i was expecting it to be crappy because it was free but no...it was great! while we where eating we where talking about how much fun we had been having so far and we were not ready to leave yet. since i di...

not only was I completely overwhelmed by the natural beauty and colors of sedona, but also felt, literally, lighter or posessed, when i stood atop a mountain, on a vortex. indescribable feeling of being lighter, and heavier, at the same time. whew! i believe that the descriptions below explain the sort of energy i felt, though it seemed as though it were yin/yang. an equal balance. :) there are five main vortices, and i was on the airport vortex...which is so called because it is by the ...
