Nice Backpacker Inn Jun 05, 2011
15 euros per day for twin sharing.

Arriving in Istanbul, the location was quite easily reached via the public transport network. Taking the train transfer out from the airport , following the instructions to the appropriate tram station got me a little confused but nothing asking around didn’t fix. On the tram ride, you would already be able to see the splendor that is Istanbul as you would catch a glimpse of Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sofia. From the Gulhane tram station, the hostel is a 5 minute walk upslope, and could be a hassle for those trolley luggers, all’s good for backpack ers though.

The location is obviously brilliant, as you are able to have a light stroll towards the Sulthamet region where most of the classical sights are located. Walking down early in the morning to catch the beauty of the sunrise catching the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia is truly a sight to behold, and this is do-able thanks to the proximity of the location. For those shoppers out there, the Grand Bazaar is a few tram stops away, and Taksim is a further few stops away across the Galata Bridge.

With its wonderful location, I would definitely recommend the hostel to those heading to Istanbul.

P.S. Breakfast is nice btw..haha..until my friend fooled me into thinking the pickled olives were some form of preserved fruit tasting like grapes.

Truly lives up to the name! Mar 24, 2011
I first stayed here my 2nd week in Istanbul, then i travled turkey. When i returned to Istanbul i just had to stay in this hostel again! altogether i stayed at Second Home Hostel about 2 weeks.

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! The rooms, showers, and bathrooms are all clean. I forgot i was staying in a hostel and not a hotel! The complimentary breakfast in the lobby offers a great way to meet the other people staying there. I had no issues at all while staying here. I was on a tight budget being a student, and this hostel was affordable and worth every lira. You would be missing out on a great experience and possible long-time friends if you dont atleast consider staying here. It really felt like my second-home and i cant wait to return!

Friendly staff, nice stay Aug 09, 2011
This is a nice hostel where you can meet people from around the world. The hostel is located central in the historic part of the city. The mixed dorm is in the cellar, but it is good ventilated and nice to sleep at. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is on the roof, which is very high located.
