Like Ducks? Nov 11, 2011
Seaview Wildlife Encounter is a smaller animal park / zoo, and can be reached by walking down the beach from Ryde in less than half an hour. Whilst the park itself is not particularly large, nor varied, it easily provides a few hours of good entertainment.

Not for those with a phobia of ducks or birds, visitors should expect to be mobbed by literally hundreds of free roaming birds - mostly ducks but also other more unusual birds such as peacocks and foreign geese, and should expect them to be ever-present and absolutely unavoidable. Visitors can purchase small packs of grain with which to feed them, but be warned that this will result in an inevitable torrent of fowl that have absolutely no regard for the concept of personal space!

The park also allows visitors to feed their Humbold penguins and walk in an open enclosure containing a number of exceptionally placid and friendly wallabies. Visitors are encouraged to both feed and pet them - which went down a treat with younger visitors. The staff are often available, are approachable and happy to offer information, or just generally chat away - it's clear they enjoy what they do and don't mind sharing.

All in all, the park is a great day out and comes highly recommended. Whilst smaller than other zoos and parks, we found it to be very uncrowded, and much more accomodating.
