Seaview Cottage Ardhasaig Reviews
Nice Homely Feel Jul 27, 2012
Seaview Cottage is a private rental accomodation on the Isle Of Harris, in the village of Ardhasaig, 3 miles from where the ferry arrives at Tarbert.
My mum and dad have stayed here often, and this was my second time staying here. Has everything you need to enjoy you stay comfortably, yet relaxing enough that you can feel like it is a home from home.
Has a front door and side door, and we mostly used the latter as it was easier to get boots and waterproofs off this way, rather than going in through the hall.
Property has 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and a twin, 2 of which are upstairs and 1 downstairs, that I used and the bed was really comfortable.
An extension has been built onto the side of the house, which is used as a good sized kitchen, and has a dining table that will seat 6. Fitted with a washing machine, fridge/freezer, cooker, oven toaster and microwave, and even the sink, for while are doing the dishes, has a great view out front over the bay.
Lounge has a leather 3 piece suite, which again is really comfortable. Has a rather old TV , but has a freeview box that receives some digital channels. There is a DVD player if you want to bring some entertainment of your own, although there are a few DVD's in the house.
Bathroom is downstairs and has a really good shower, in the bath, and has a heater which may be necessary in winter, but the house was plety warm, thanks to double glazing and new doors.
The house sits on the main road, but traffic is never a problem on the islands, and has room for 2 cars off the road at the end of the house.
No problems accessing the house, as the woman that owns it, Katie, lives nearby. There is a shop, almost right across the road, where you can order newspapers and pick up afew groceries. Across from that is a petrol station, so you have everything you need to for your stay on the island close at hand.
If you prefer someone else to do the cooking and cleaning, the nearby 4* Arhasaig House, might suit you better, but I enjoyed staying here, and will probably do so again :).
