Before coming to America I knew that religion was a far more powerful force here than it is in Australia. But what I didn't suspect was that atheism would also be so different between the two cultures. In Australia around 64% of the population, if pushed, would call themselves Christian and 31% would say they are not religious or wouldn't even bother answering. This isn't that different from the US, with 77% Christian and 14% not religious or not answering, especially after you take int...

As we strolled through the city, we created a little game called the "Starbucks Game".As you walked the streets, the first person to spot a Starbucks Coffee Shop would call out "Starbucks!". For each one you see you gain one letter to spell the word: S-T-A-R-B-U-C-K-S. The winner gets a free drink of choice at the winning Starbucks! You'd be surprised how quickly you can get through this game!

Monday was a day of total relaxation.
Tuesday, Steve was able to take the day off work and so both he and his wife joined us in our sites-seeing. We took them places they hadn’t visited in twenty years or more.
Today we will spend the day looking at sights around Seattle. First the Japanese Gardens near the University. We strolled through slowly and enjoyed the nice weather and wonderful surroundings.
Then east only about 25 miles to Snoqua...

A 25 hour train trip to Seattle, Washington. The Pacific NorthWest is so lush and beautiful, amazingly it only drizzled once the entire week...and that was at the end of our day trip to Victoria, Canada. Lots of good food there, had Thai one night and Ethiopian food the next. Some really great bubble tea too!!

Again today we are up rather late for another trip into Seattle. A simple breakfast of cereal and yogurt and a few minutes to finish our coffee and we’re off again for a day in Seattle.
Today we get to see the world famous Pike Place Market. We have seen reviews everywhere about it and look forward to a fun time at a wonderful place. And I must say that for most people it would be a great day. Browsing and window shopping the many shops and areas is fun. And watching th...

Ah, Seattle, Washington. The home of Grunge, Starbucks and butt cold rainy days! I should know I have been there many times and even lived there for a couple months while I was in a show. It rains…a lot! More than Portland, Oregon even. And it doesn’t just rain, oh no! It is windy and the rain comes at you sideways. You can’t escape! I have no beef with Seattle, none, but I don’t think I could live there. Sorry Seattle, I would sti...

From what I've gleaned from the 3 separate times I've visited...I love Seattle. Absolutely everything about it speaks to me in a very satisfying way. I remember when I was in college and looking at medical schools, I wanted more than anything to go to Univ. of Seattle because their medical program involved an internship where they split up the class - half of them go to the poor inner city to serve their populus while the other half go into the wilderness to assist there. Because let's face i...

Not only have I been to this city before due to family and friends - I had the opportunity to meet up with a travbuddy! Met up with Shane and I must recommend that he is a great travbuddy! Had many ideas to show me, but since I didn't have much time - we decided to "wing" it. He was able to show me Gasworks park - "what the hell - it's @#$^& freezing!", Green Lake - I think that's the name - beautiful area where you can jog/run/walk around a lake - and as he said - "in the summertime it's gr...

We went for the weeked up north to Seattle. The drive from Salem, OR took about 3 hours and despite the cold and rain it was clear enough to enjoy of some nice views and most important we were able to feel the comfortable atmosphere of this city by the sea. They got great sea food, love it!

Sunday- We drove into Seattle, and of course went to check out the Space Needle. The parking lot required you to estimate how long you would be parked there, and purchase parking in advance. We (incorrectly) figured 2 hours would be enough. Dawn discovered an exhibit of Rock star's clothing, such as Kurt Cobain's sweater, and the outfits of the guys from KISS. We spent about a half hour there, then got in line to go up the Needle. It took over an hour, just waiti...

Well, we head back to Seattle with a few hours left to sightsee and hopefully grab a light dinner before I get dropped off at the airport for my 9:45pm flight (not sure what I was thinking booking the last flight out....). As we head back into Seattle - we find the RAIN! My first "real" Seattle rain.Yeah, no....not fun. That was the one benefit to living in Las Vegas for a few years! Sacramento rains pretty regularly but it's much more tolerable since I work at home now as c...

It was a great day when Eli Graduated. He actually had two graduations. The one on Friday was sunny and beautiful.... Saturday it was really raining. We were there for the Saturday rain. The ceremony was very impressive except for a political speaker who bragged for 45 minutes about his political career whilst we sat shivering waiting to cheer for our grad.....

My alarm clock buzzed exactly at 230a.m. Friday and officially, my Seattle trip begins. With only 3 hours of sleep, my body was surprisingly alert and very excited to venture farther up latitude-wise and see this beautiful city that serves as the backdrop for Grey’s Anatomy (I swore I was crossing fingers that I’ll meet my McDreamy up there). At 3:10am I drove to the Flyaway station in Van Nuys, rode the ever efficient bus to take me down to LAX. My flight was sched...
