Seaport Village San Diego Reviews
Seaport Village - Gem of San Diego Sep 08, 2014
The Seaport Village was one of the free places in San Diego which offers a thousand of activities you can do.
We strolled along the breakwater to watch the kite flying lovers holding the string...watching it carefully so as not to tangle with another. It wasn't as easy as it seemed, with the strong wind dragging the kite owner here and there.
The sea was teeming with activities.... Paragliders, jetskis, yachts sailing, taking advantage of the beautiful weather San Diego has to offer.
After a sumptuous seafood dinner at the Harbour House Restaurant, we resumed our walking spree until we reached a very interesting statue which was one of the village's features.
The "Kiss" statue at the San Diego Waterfront facing faces the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum. It was a statue depicting a sailor stealing a kiss from a nurse at the end of World War II.
Beside is the legacy of Bob Hope, commemorated by a major sculptural artwork titled “A National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military".
A number of shops and seafood restaurants are also available in the area.

Well Worth the Visit Mar 24, 2010
Along the harbor of San Diego there is a nice little section south of Santa Fe Depot (train station) called Seaport Village. From the station walk south along Kettner about 6 blocks and you walk right into it. Also there is a trolley stop along the Orange line for this interesting part of San Diego.
There are three major hotels (Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton) several restaurants, shops, and telescopes to look across the harbor to the south at Coronado and North Island. To the west on a clear day a beautiful view of Shelter Island and Point Loma.
Very well maintained landscape. There is a kite shop near the entrance and often times you will see people flying kites. There is also a carousel for children and the kid at heart.
During the summers and holidays you can find all kinds of live entertainment and activities on the board walk and the port's parks. They are even annual major concerts over looking the Coronado Bridge.
To get a spectacular panoramic view of San Diego walk into the Hyatt main lobby taking the elevator to the top floor. Here you will find a bar with a nice view. Some visitors just come to the top to overlook the city...Enjoy!
There are a variety of eateries depending on your budget. For nice occasions I like the Harbor House. There's also Kansas City Barbecue (I ate there years ago Rating 7 out of 10) just across the street as you walk out of the village. Find your way to the Seaport Village trolley stop there is a coffee shop called the "Brickyard" with a patio. You can get breakfast or lunch at good price with friendly service but they close early (I think at 2pm) but it is a very nice shop with clean bathrooms.
