Imperial Beach’s newest contemporary beachfront restaurant Mar 19, 2014
Located just steps from the sand and minutes from Mexico. The name SEA180° was coined from the expansive ocean views visible from every corner of the establishment. The restaurant is located on the ground level of Pier South, the new boutique hotel. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining–including a banquet room, a rooftop deck with unparalleled coastal and inland views, and several private dining rooms throughout.

The interior, where every table has a view of the ocean, is done in bleached wood, with rough wooden table tops. The doors leading into the restrooms closely resemble beach cabanas. The huge windows display the beach, which is just steps away and the Pacific Ocean, to their fullest advantage.

The menu is eclectic and fun. Three-quarters of the menu is share plates. Sea Shares, Ranch Shares and Farm Shares. The Big Waves are the complete meals. Baja-Med cuisine with Pacific Rim, French, Italian and Mediterranean flavors"; dishes include duck "carnaditas" with caramelized onions, pineapple salsa and aged goat cheese and grilled whole fish with herbs, asparagus and cilantro mojo.

And the food and service are first rate. It's a super-fun place where you could go to have a glass of wine and nibble some food on the beach.

We and our guests took the short hop down to IB for lunch and greatly enjoyed the experience.

Baja Stone Crab Potstickers, complimented by a Burnt Orange Sauce served on a bed of Swiss chard. The first bite provided a rush of seafood flavor, which I really enjoyed and thought it was a real taste treat.

The Canarditas were served with caramelized onions, pineapple salsa and aged goat cheese.

Green Olive Pistou Calamari, which included absolutely fresh calamari, shell beans, zucchini noodles and green olives. The fresh, light taste of the calamari was delicious.

So happy we have this restaurant not far away from home.
