Sea Dive Resort Jun 30, 2008
Sea Dive Resort got a really nice location right down at a pier overlooking the water. Hence when you stay in the big restaurant you can watch the water and the boats out there. It is also right on the landing of the "ferry" from El Nido hence you can just jump of the boat and walk right into the reception if you come on the boat from the south.
If you come from the airport or boat from San Jose, Puerto Princesa or Manila you will have to go to the main street and then walk down 100 meters on the pier. This makes the resort a bit secluded from the rest of town and you may actually risk spending all you time staying at the resort eating at the restaurant going to the next door bar and diving or island hopping during the day from a boat placed right at the resort. As you can probably tell by the name - diving is king at Sea Dive. They mainly attract divers and got a big dive shop right next to the reception of the hotel. They do al kind of courses from open water to wreck diving or nitrox courses. The nitrox course seems very pricy though. The dive masters at the resort is very experienced since they have all been diving on the wrecks for years and many of them got more than 2.000 dives on the wrecks. You may even get the option to go with the personal dive master of the president of the Philippines if you stay here - he will not be telling you about it himself though you will need to hear the story from somebody else. One plus with the dive shop is it standard security - they did ask to se my certificate before they would let me go diving unlike so many other places. The restaurant at the resort is pretty good and reasonably priced but you will need a bit of patience when you order food. Other pluses is free water and coffee and wifi at the restaurant for all guest at the resort - of course this also make it less likely you will leave the resort during your stay. You can choose between room with fan or aircon - and there are also a few secret budget rooms with shared bathroom but they will probably not tell you about those when you arrive - they did not tell me so I ended up in a fan room which was fine. There are two problems with the resort. If you get a top room you will get woken up in case it rains. The roof is some sort of metal on which the sound of rain is like a drum being hit right next to your head. Hence if you go during the rainy season you may try to get a room away from the roof. The other problem is if you need to walk down the pier during a shower you will get soaked before you can get to the resort. The 100 meter walk is without any cover against a sudden rain. My favorite resort in the Philippines Mar 09, 2008
Sea Dive Resort is located on a pier in Coron Town. We had a deluxe aircon room which was very spacious and very clean, but still affordable. From the room's balcony we had a fantastic view on the bay and the sunset.
The staff members are very friendly and helpful and we even became good friends with some of them. The resort's restaurant is excellent and provides both philippine and western meals. Every day there is a special with fresh fish. Of course the most interesting thing to do is diving. The Sea Dive Center is PADI Gold Palm Dive Center and offers diving courses with very good instructors. There are some amazing diving spots in the area and of course the famous Coron wrecks. When you don't go diving you can still go island hopping, hiking, exploring the island with a motorcycle or take a relaxing bath in the Maquinit Hot Springs. In the evening you can go for a drink in the resort's Helldivers bar. The resort provides excellent value for money and is located in one of the most beautiful regions of the Philippines. In fact I had such a good time there that I extended my stay with 3 days and I will definitely go back there when I'm in the Philippines. Part of the Philippines March 2008 travel blog |

A day and a half May 09, 2008
We paid around P850 ($15) for a twin fan room with own shower and hot water good for one and a half days. The resort usually rents out the rooms for the weekender visitors.
We arrived Saturday morning at the pier via the Super Ferry from Manila around 6am and were scheduled to depart at 11pm the following Sunday, which usually means check in Saturday morning then check out Sunday early evening, hence the one and a half day stay at Sea Dive hehe ;p. They have clean and cozy rooms, personally I don’t think you should get an a/c room since the resort is very near the sea, again hence Sea Dive resort (double wink ;p) and has a breezy ambience. We were booked on the second floor where there was a balcony and some of the peeps in our group had a couple of beers or was it tequila on the first night… The place is also strategically located, not only is it in the town center itself, but after a whole day of island hopping like visiting Kayangan lakes and several of the ship wrecked islands in Coron we were docked by our boatman right in front of the resort straight to our room. I would def go back to this resort, just for the simple reason of value for money and where else could you find a place where they charge you for a half day as their standard? …and besides, just the mere mention of Coron is already music to my ears. Sea Dive resort just because I liked the view of the sea better from its balcony. As expected the place was full on weekend and had to take the most expensive of the rooms an AC double. The restaurant at this place serves excellent food… Coron in Palawan |

We arrived 4 am the following day and met with the tour group at the pier, we then took a tricycle to Sea Dive Resort where we were booked for the duration of our stay. *I found an e-group on the web that organizes tours for Coron; the purpose is to have as many people in a group so we can save by sharing the payment… quick weekend getaway |
