San Pedro, Belize
Scuba Diving San Pedro Reviews

San Pedro, on Caye Ambergris, is probably the most pricy place of all Cayes in Belize. If you stay in San Pedro, the only thing to do is probably go scuba diving or go on a snorkling trip. To get to a beach you'd need to rent a bike, because there is no close beach near San Pedro to just jump into the water. I wouldn't recommend this place for backpackers on a tight budget. Hotels in San Pedro are quite expensive too, but of course you get better service and the hotels are quite nice.
Caye Caulker is where most backpackers go, but similar to San Pedro, there's only scuba diving or snorkling to do. Again, there is no close beach, only the 'Split', where people hang out and swim in a small canal that was created when a hurricane split the island.
Both San Pedro and Caye Caulker are excellent for scuba diving ($80-$100 for two tank dive, $200 for three tank dive to the famous blue hole). Snorkling is also great ($30 for half day trip).
If you wanta place to go scuba diving/snorkling AND a beach at a good price, I'd recommend Tobacco Caye, my favorite place of all in Belize. Tiny island, off the coast of Dangriga, not bigger than a football field.
