Beautiful views and Interesting history Jun 24, 2011
Scottsbluff National Monument as well as the area in general are worth seeing if your travels bring you nearby or through, but are not neccessarily something to take a special trip just to see.

If you are interested in American history the bluffs offer a wealth of stories from the westward expansion on the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails.

A small museum is located inside the visitor center at the base of the bluffs and admission to the park/museum is only $5. The hike up the bluff is fairly steep for people who are not used to doing any hiking, but is only 1.6mi to the top. A road allows those not up for hiking to make it to the summit as well.

A small ampitheater in back is used for hosting bands, informative lectures and ranger talks on many evenings of the week during summer.
