Schloss Johannisburg Aschaffenburg Reviews
museum in a palace, with architectural models made out of cork Mar 28, 2011
I've been here years ago, never wrote about it because this visit was before I even knew about this site/forum. But I came across this castle on Wikipedia and I decided I should write about it.
This castle is open to public, this is actually a wonderfull example of German Renaissance. Even though the castle was destroyed by allied forces during the Second World War. Only a few years after the castle was completly rebuild.
The museum shows some typical stuff for castles like suits of armor, dito for horses, models of the earlier castle, wapenry, furniture and tapestries. All normal stuff, well I'll tell you there is some stuff that's not normal for a castle. Cork, lots of cork and not for in bottles or on the floor, but cut in pieces to make models of ancient Roman buildings like the Colleseum and others.
The garden is also open to public, from there you can walk down the hill to the river.
