the most beautiful castle in düsseldorf in 4 seasons Jan 18, 2009
düsseldorf, long time ago was a city of counts and countesses. in the city alone, we have 5 castles from the prussian, baroque and rococco periods.
my favorite castle is schloss eller, from the prussian period. the wings were built in much older period, in the 1300's, the main castle was built in the 1800's. the castle was a former home to the dusseldorf fashion school, but it was moved due to the increasing number of students. the reason i like this castle above the others and in my opinion, the most beautiful castle in düsseldorf, is that the area surrounding it is very quaint, charming and picturesque. unlike the other castle, which the gardens and forests are well-manicured, here in schloss eller, trees, vines, shrubs just grow everywhere, giving the castle an eerie and "uncastle" like look. it is straight out of a fairytale's book. every season is different from one another, the blazing colors of the leaves in autumn with only the sound of ravens you can hear then the frost, the freeze, the chill, the deep snow, the elusive deers you can see in deep winter, and the sound of birds, ducks, lost river gulls, rabbits, in spring and in summer. it is a magical place for the child at heart. |
