Scandic Byporten Oslo Reviews
Easy does it Jan 14, 2010
I staid at this hotel for 2 nights on a business trip to Oslo and booked it for its excellent location.
The Scandic Byporten is located within the Byporten shopping mall, adjacent to the central station and right at the end of the airport line (Gardermoen).
One doesn't even have to go outside to catch a train, grab a meal or do some shopping, which is really convenient in the frosty january temperatures. The main shopping street, Johansgatan, is right accross the street.
Like all Scandics, this hotel has a light and modern internior and offers fast and free internet in the lobby. Next to the lobby is a bar and small convenience store.
Check-in went fast and efficient despite my late arrival.
My room was modern and clean with the characteristic wooden floors, but on the downside it was extremely small. It was hard to move between the bed and the walls.
It had an equally small but clean bathroom.
Breakfast is served accross the reception at the Egon restaurant in the shopping mall. It served an extensive buffet with eggs, pancakes, porrige, cold cuts, breads, cereals, pastries, yoghurts...you name it!
Norway is expensive in general, so this hotel is on the expensive side too. Though nevertheless I'd call it good value for money.

More than worth for its price in a city where all is expensive Dec 30, 2010
Great rate quality/price and very good breakfast - in important point when you know that all is so very expensive in Oslo.
