Sawasdee Bangkok Inn Khao San Road Reviews
stay away from this hotel... Jul 29, 2012
I’ve discovered Sawasdee Inn Bangkok through Agoda.com. I did look for a hotel that is only a walking distance away to the famous temples like Wat Arun, Wat Pho, and, of course, The Grand Palace. Most of the reviews, I’ve read affirmed that Sawasdee Inn is convenient to some of the major attractions.
Sawasdee Inn Bangkok from the airport will take about an hour journey via City Line Train (CLT) to Phaya Thai Station. And, then another 20 minutes (or so) tuk-tuk ride from the mentioned CLT station to Khaosan Road, (the backpacker capital of Bangkok!)
The tuk-tuk driver dropped us off next to KFC. We continued walking on that busy street until I saw the hotel sign and an arrow pointing to some directions. We followed the marking arrow until we walked into a dark alley! We made it safe although, at first it was scary.
Our check in was frustrating. It was a slow process, and we had to put a deposit of 500 baht cash. It did not make sense that they had to collect a cash deposit when our debit card had already charged.
The hotel staff who checked us in was not the friendliest either.
The use of Wi-Fi was frustrating. It read clearly on their website page it is free, but ugly surprise; it is not free! And they collect a fee the price of a gold bar! We didn't succumb into becoming victims of their misleading advertisement.
The size of the room was too small, and the bathroom is even tinier.
The full-size bed/mattress was old and deformed. The sheets were clean though.
The city attractions like Wat Arun…yes, they’re all walking distance away but still a long walk!
The only positive thing about this hotel is the proximity of cheap street foods like the famous, exotic Pad Thai.
I would not recommend this hotel by no means. It's better to pay a bit more and stay somewhere comfier; more decent than this hotel/location.
P.S. If you have stayed recently in this hotel please feel free to write your comments, and let me know if there's any been improvement since. Thank you! ~
