Great Place on the Beach! Dec 03, 2012
We found these lovely beach huts/houses (see pics) whilst looking through the accommodation books at Wunderbar in Trang. We had looked at them on the Internet but dismissed them as their internet prices are higher than their local prices (i.e. Trang agents). When we saw the prices 800BHT per night we decided that we would treat ourselves. We booked a room with Ensuite bathroom, Western WC and luke warm shower (absolutely fine), sink that had very low water pressure, but fine. Double bed with full enclosed heavyweight mosquito net. The room also had a very useful small plastic lockable safe box attached to the wall post. Please note none of the huts have aircon and there is no Wifi access, but a short walk along the end of the 10 beach huts and just past there own very good restaurant is the “Divers Bar” which does do Wifi for the price of a drink. What made it for us was being right on the beach, and the very helpful and friendly staff. We breakfast most days here and dinner three times. The excel on having their beach bar b q’s with a very large fish of the day e.g. Marlin, sea Trout, fresh (large) Prawns, squid, chicken, Pork Ribs, Satay etc.Dinner can be served in the partially open restaurant or just outside it on the bit before the beach on plastic tables and chairs. The service was very good, they do have their own boat trips to caves and snorkelling etc, which are just as competitive and in some cases even better than others we looked at. We booked a half day boat trip with them for two snorkel drops and the Emerald cave, all of which were amazing, our boatman was a really nice understated guy too. At site two he got in and showed us some particularly interesting corals and fish. At the Emerald cave he showed us the way through(you have to swim 80 meters in pitch black to reach the amazing micro planet at the other side) he guided us with his head torch and made sure at all times that we were keeping up with him and were safe. A great trip at 1200BHT for the boat, so if there were others we could have shared the cost, but the wasn’t so we didn’t! Sawadee comes highly recommended.
