Juicy Japanese Cuisine Oct 22, 2009
Along George Street in Dunedin you'll find a Japanese cuisine eatery called Savoury Japan. It's a small dine-in or take-away place that specialises in sushi, rice balls, rice dishes and noodle dishes.

It's generally one of the local students' favourite places to eat out since it's pretty cheap and the rice/noodle dish sizes are pretty big.

I'd recommend trying the sweet & sour pork with rice because it's very filling, only costs 9 NZD and is utterly delicious!

It's fun to try use chopsticks if you haven't really used them much before, but otherwise they do provide knives/forks/spoons for those not co-ordinated enough! Also if you decide to opt for a box of sushi there is an unlimited supply of ginger for you. Which is awesome because I love ginger on my sushi!

Not much to say about staff-customer interaction. You have to order and pay first then sit down and the food will be brought to you. Easy as that. Also they are LIGHTNING fast. Seriously. I'm talking like a 5 minute wait at most. Unless it's quite busy and then it's about 10 minutes. Probably not the best place to go if you like to drag out a dining experience but if you're a traveller who's pushed for time then this is your go-to zone (other than fast food obviously).
