Saving money on your travel Mar 21, 2009
Hello everyone, Im not one to write reviews, but when I really like something I will talk about it. I was up late one night searching the internet, looking for good prices on airline tickets and hotel stays, so I had 10 or 12 windows opened on my computer with prices from all the top sites I could think of. I was trying to compare them all. It was around 2am when my computer crashed and I had to start all over again!

This time I thought I would look on a site like craigslist and what I found was a site that claimed to be able to do all the searching for me, so I looked into it. It turns out that they get live feeds from all the top travel sites and compare for you then supply you with a list of the lowest prices from all the top sites. Then I went to the site that had the lowest price and I booked my flight and room.

It was fast and easy and the prices were really cheap!

I rate Vacation Planet very highly here is their site if you wish to try them as well

~peak season= summer (may-oct) you will pay almost a hundred more in some places.

~remember you can get SENIOR, AAA, AMA, BCAA, CAA discounts. (most people don't look for the discount cards and it will save you up to $20 off even if you are not a member)

~most of the time there is an extra person charge anywhere from $10-$20 extra per adult after 2 adults. if you are in a pinch i have had friends check in with only 2 ppl and give the others the card after. or just "visit" up in the room luggage already up there. we can't keep track of everyone. it goes unnoticed. it doesn't really hurt anyone unless there is a free breakfast for everyone in that case just be a good person and pay :)

~"managers specials" (selling the extra rooms the day of so they don't sit empty) are infact most of the time %100 front desk employee made up. they just use their judgement and hey if you are nice/ or acting unsure (salespeople hello). If people are rude I do not feel bad quoting full price you are not entitled a deal. so act like you are on the fence you might get extra's. especially if you show up after check in time. if you don't mind risking it this is the BEST deal possible. make sure there are no events in town!

- remember that some places are total dives. for most places if it is after check in time the room is sure to be clean and ready to view BEFORE you do any paper work.

~"know" the general manager.
google the hotel. make sure not to give a date (incase they are fairly new) but ask if ______ is still here. when you meet them at the front desk do the whole "you treated us so well on our last few visits that we had to come say hello" they see hundreds of new faces a day how will they know. plus people feel exta guilty if they think they have forgotten you.

~ companies like expedia etc most of the time book a certain amount of rooms at a very discounted rate. then SET THEIR OWN RATES. they take a profit and some of the time you are paying more money than the average person booking themselves. check to see which one is better. (tip expeda charges upfront on your credit card while most hotels, and travel bookings only take an imprint, payable any way upon checkout as the hold is released)

can't think of anything else at the moment. happy travels.
