Savery Overview

Savery is a tiny unincorporated community of about 45 (with lots of fluctuations since 2000) located along Wyoming Highway 70 (AKA The Battle Pass Scenic Byway) in Carbon County in Southern Wyoming not far from the border with Colorado. The first settlers in the area were homesteaders named Noah and Hossanah Reader who established the Stone Wall Ranch just outside the present town of Savery in 1871. The ranch was named for a sandstone escarpment on their land. In 1873 famous mountain man Jim Baker built a cabin and trading post here. Today people mostly visit the town for the very nice Little Snake River Museum.
