Savarin Oostende Reviews
Savarin - will light your eyes Jun 04, 2009
One of the best restaurants in Oostende is supposed to be the Savarin which situated on the promenade with a fantastic view over the beach and the water. The restaurant is facing west so there is also a perfect view towards the sundown every evening.
The restaurant is situated in the bottom of one of the many hotels or apartment buildings that is a part of the long wall protecting everybody from seeing the water unless you are walking on the promenade. I have always stated that the Belgians have succeeded to finalize what the Germans started in the final part of WWII building a defence wall towards attacks from the waterside.
The restaurant is very classy; nice table cloths, beautiful glasses – the restaurant is really giving you a great view to start the evening on. I have now been there twice and have been really happy about the meals both times. I have been lucky enough to have the Promenade Menu including the wine menu. The menu have a good ratio between quality and price.
The waiters have been friendly and knowledgeable of the menus and the wine and have been able to guide us gently through the evening.
