Fast food the old fashioned Copenhagen way :-) Apr 15, 2011
Any tourist in Copenhagen should try one of our local food options. It's the trusty, old sausage wagon. It's small outdoor wagons that are placed on busy street corners or central squares. You can order hot dogs, any sort of sausage (usually pig meat) and bread. The "traditional" options are a hotdog or simply a sausage with a piece of bread and some ketchup and mustard to go.

You eat it standing while you have a small chat with other customers or the owner of the wagon about life, women or the current weather. There are not so many as there used to be, but most Danes of my age or older will still have childhood memories of standing there and eating a sausage and drinking chocolate milk :-)
Traditional Danish Cuisine :-)

What is the bread like? Is it a bun that encloses the sausage?
