We stopped here for lunch somewhere between Bandung and the volcano crater; it’s located right off the main road. This is a very traditional Indonesian restaurant specializing in Sudanese food. If you here looking for western food, you definitely will not find it.
The restaurant is spacious inside. It’s all open air, so no air-condition, but the temperatures in this area are fairly mild. The best seating is on a raised platform by the large, open windows that look out over the beautiful terrain, but in this area of seating you also sit on the floor around short tables, and you must take off your shoes. When we arrived all of those tables were full and we ended up sitting further inside at regular tables, and in chairs.
Of course, rice is always the main part of the menu. I didn’t order anything, myself, but helped Asri with her meal. The food was actually very good. And another thing about eating here; it’s common to eat with your hands. The food is very cheap…about the most expensive meal you can buy is 4USD, and many of their dishes are around 2USD and less. Even the Fanta soda is cheaper than anywhere else I’ve seen.
This is a very nice place for local food. It’s an interesting place to come in and dine, even if it’s just to experience the culture. They also have aquariums inside with some large fish.
