Sauerkraut! Mar 06, 2017
Fritzlar is the seat of a large and well-known factory of canned vegetables - not wanting to mention the name here;-) They produce for example pickled cucumbers, canned red cabbage and other vegetables, vinegar, and their flagship is Sauerkraut. The area around Fritzlar grows a lot of white cabbage and this factory is (so they claim) the largest producer of Sauerkraut in the world.

As a consequence, during a certain period in late autumn (read: during my visit ***grumble***) the whole town smells of Sauerkraut.

If you like Sauerkraut you will feel hungry all the time, if you don't you will feel annoyed...
Sauerkraut factory, very active in…

I'm not a big fan but my husband loves it. When we had the Euromeet in Karlsruhe I bought a can in the local supermarket to bring home as a gift for him - I wonder if it was made here?

I LOVE sauerkraut! I remember once visiting Budapest at a certain time of the year. Every apartment block emitted the fragrant odour of sauerkraut.
