Sato Salvador da Bahia Reviews
Nov 03, 2006
If for some reason you're looking for Japanese food and an upscale experience Salvador, Sato is the place to go. It's located in the Porto da Barra neighborhood along the Baia Todos os Santos. If you are really lucky and get there really early, you may be able to get a spot on the outdoor patio overlooking the bay. The inside of the restaurant is very modern, nicely decorated and comfortable. If you don't have a large group, the small tables with armchairs are fun to sit at. The staff is genuinely friendly and attentive and it doesn't take long to get your food.
Depending on what you order, it can be more expensive than a typical dinner in Salvador, but it is much cheaper than a comparable experience in the States. I thought hot sushi with cream cheese was a crazy idea, but the Hot Phildelphia Rolls turned out to be delicious. The Yakisoba noodles were also great and another favorite dish of ours. A good drink to try is the Strawberry Frozen. It's like the morangoroskas you can get from vendors in Pelourinho, but better. Save room for dessert because they're all good!
