Wonderful small ship cruise along the west coast of Greenland. Jun 23, 2013
This ship was recommended by the Receptionist at the hotel I stayed at in Nuuk.
Although reasonably expensive for four days, the trip was wonderful. The ship is extremely well maintained, and my cabin was very comfortable with ensuite, and large 'window'.
Meals are not included. The cost is reasonable. The food is basic but good.
The staff were all friendly, and access to the Bridge is available on request .
The Customer Relations lady,Tina, was so helpful, and advised me on directions to take when landing in Sisimut and Illulisit ,
The ship stops at Manitsoq,Kangaamiut ,and Aasiaat to offload people and take on passengers, and stops at Sissimut for four hours, which is ample time to walk around the town, and Illulisit for four hours, again, ample time to walk around the town to see the sights, and walk to the bay which is about a two hour walk.I found it easier to take a taxi to the start of the walk and then walk back to the harbour.
There are no roads in Greenland other than within the towns,so all transport is by plane or ship.
It is important to check the timetable for the ship,as it varies with the seasons. It is also possible to travel south to Qaqortoq.
