Saratoga Spa State Park Jul 08, 2016
Saratoga Spa State Park is a fantastic park located just a bit south from the town. It is a vast complex with lots of springs, beautiful forest, picnic areas, and couple large swimming pools. They also have great performance area and we were there for The Phish concert. Entrance is $8 which gives you just a parking spot and you need to add some moneys for pools. Most of the springs are made in beginning of 1900’s when local businesses were drilling holes to bottle mineral water. Saratoga is famous for its mineral water that has medical applications and it was prized since Native Indians times. You can drink from the wells but some waters are extremely mineral and taste is a bit off… It has very high iron and sometimes sulfur content so if you leave your bottle for a day, water will turn yellowish.
