Saqqara Overview

Only about one or two hours away outside of Cairo by car, Saqqara is home to the famous Steppe Pyramid, it also supports a rather large series of ruins that you can walk through as well as several Mastabas that may be entered. In order to enter the mastabas you will have to find the local guides that either congregate outside of the ruins or lurk by their particular mastabas. You can usually get away with giving them 20 Egyptian pounds per person per visit. A guide may get 50 to 100 Egyptian Pounds.
