It's a great restaurant and the food is great. Sushi is delicious and their teppanyaki is great. However, I don't like their reservation policy. I wanted to have a birthday dinner and so I called to reserve for about 20 people. They e-mailed me a contract where they were asking for a security deposit of $500! I understand having a security deposit, because for a party that big - that's a lot of tables they're holding that they could be seating people in. But $500? $25 a person? But the worse part is that if my entire party didn't show up - if something happened to 1 or 2 of my guests and they couldn't make it - their policy is that they won't refund their portion of the security deposit. They would add it to my bill. So if 2 people of the 20 didn't show up, then they'd charge me an extra $50. That's just silly. Besides that policy, the food is excellent!

After that list what do I say about Sappora? The atmosphere is magical with the blue light, aquariums, and modern tables. The drink selection requires the use of extensive brain power attempting to narrow down your selection. I chose the Dragon bowl, a drink that cost a whopping $20 for one drink. That sounds extreme I know, now let me explain this drink is literally the size of a small fish bowl, it contains 8 shots of alcohol, and provides a good conversational piece to all of those near you. Granted after my third one, with some help I spent little to no time focusing on the food. I do have one distinct memory and that was of the Rock Crab appetizer, which is split crab legs served on a heated plate with just the right amount of garlic and butter.

This is an expensive restaurant to eat at but, with the happy hour specials it makes it affordable and enjoyable.
