    KERRY - After a very painless flight from Fortaleza to Sao Luis (planes are definitley the way to travel in Brazil!) we arrived in the city and with the help of a friendly local managed to find a pousada to spend the night. The Pousada was pretty pricey though so we spent the afternoon wandering the streets of Sao Luis looking for an alternative place to sleep, as well as locating a tour operator to go on a trip to the national park of Lencois  Maranhensas.   Sao Lui...

    São Luis is een stadje dat van onder het stof gehaald wordt sinds het door de Unesco erkend werd als werelderfgoed. Het bestaat uit een aantal wijken met karaktervolle straatjes en dito koloniale gebouwen. Veel ervan zijn verkrot, maar men is er aan een inhaalbeweging bezig en steeds meer toeristen vinden de weg naar São Luis.     Sao Luis earned its reputation as the reggae capital of Brazil during my 4 day stay.  All reggae all the time makes for a pretty laid back night life seen.  Brazilians dance to to this music very close and very slow.  As always I had to partake in the local activities. I stayed at the HI hostel in old town which was a very nice refurbished building but the staff were some of the unfriendliest people I have met in South America.  It was nice to finally ...

    I moved to São Paulo in July after graduating from college, hoping to get to know brazil better while living with some family and teaching english. I dropped the teaching gig in december, and i've been backpacking the country since.
