At our arrivel some  free camping buses were waiting so also here to get to santorini was not a problem. We had a small tent so a small spot was still available. Santorini is beautiful, with it's cliffs on one side and sandy beaches at the other side.We made a trip by boat to visit the Volcano…

We left Agios Nikolaos and set sail for the island I was most excited about.  The little island of Santorini was some six hours ahead of us when we set sail.   We only had three hours there, which I was very bummed about, but I wanted to make sure that I made the most of my time.&nbs…

Funny, I never really wanted to go there, it's just that my friends did, but when I came home I was just thinking how to go back:)), it was GREAT!!! Santorini is one of the Cycladic islands, created by the eruption of the volcano 1500 B.C. Due to this, the island offers a versatile landscape with on the one hand steep darkish rock formations and on the other hand beaches and small white villages.

We stayed up in Oia, the only place on the whole island for me. Quiet, serene and you can't beat the most spectacular views in the world. This is the place to go if you want to rest. We sampled the lovely restaurants, we shopped (which is slightly cheaper in Thira but not much), peered through the …

The Abandoned Party Island: Santorini
posted by:

Santorini's Troubled Past  What better place for a party place than an island created by one of the world's most powerful volcanic eruptions? Santorini was formed into its present crescent shape during the Minoan era (approximately 1450 BC) when the volcano on which it sits erupted.  The…

This was a special trip for me. My dear friend Amy and I set out on a two week mission to see some of the Greek Islands and the little village Ioannina where my grandparents were born in Northern Greece. It was the first time I had traveled just winging it and the first time Amy had ever traveled abroad. The only resevations we had for lodging were in Athens and Ioannina which was at the end of the trip. Everyting else we just discovered along the way which made for a great adventure.

The morning was bright and sunny -- but down right blustery with cold winds.  We all got together for a great breakfast at our villa's central area -- we had omelettes with bacon and cheese, a break basket and coffee.  It was good and filling. We rented a car to scout…
