Santo Tomé Toledo Reviews
... best mazapan (marzipan) house of Toledo ... Apr 30, 2012
Toledo not only means the medieval history, castle, church or cobblestone streets. Toledo means 'Mazapan' as well!
Mazapan is the 'Spanish' version of Marzipan (Almond cookies and sweets). So, if you're not a 'nut allergic', you would love them, right?
Santo Tomé is located at the main square of the town, which is called Plaza de Zocodover. It's on the same road with the Alcazar, so easy to find. They have also some other locations around the town, if you are really wondering check their website which is provided at the info section, but it's all in Spanish. =)
This place has been in the business since 1856, and they have every kind of local sweets and desserts, but their specialty ,of course, is the 'Mazapan'. If you want to try all the 7 different mazapan versions, in other words if you want to buy 1 piece of each, it costs 4 euros. They also have ready-to-go boxes as well. I believe those would be nice gifts for your relatives ;)
So, don't come back home without trying this, you'll be losing a lot! Bon appetit! =)
