We did a short hike around recent (late 1800s) lava flow, which has impressive ropey pahoehoe lava flows.  The cool thing is that the Galapagos are geologically (volcanic eruptions) and evolutionarily (flora and fauna developed in relative isolation until recent history) similar to Hawaii (although Hawaii is much older).  All the volcanic terms here are Hawaiian words like pahoehoe and a'a lava flows and el pelo de Pele (Pele's hair).  I made sure to stress the world importanc...
